Union ties 1-1 with No. 13/15 Providence

BURLINGTON, VT. – The Union College men's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie with No. 13/15 Providence on Sunday night, closing out the team's appearance at the Catamount Cup hosted by Vermont.

Providence (10-5-4) got on the board early with a power-play goal at the 6:23 mark of the first period. Union (5-13-1) found itself killing another five-minute major penalty in the first period, and like the night before, the Dutchmen were successful in keeping the opponent out of the back of the net.

The Friars held their 1-0 lead until the end of the third period. Vas Kolias, returning to the line up after an injury, made his homecoming felt as he scored his first of the year with 5:11 remaining in regulation to tie the game up.

In the five-minute overtime, neither team could get much of an advantage and the two teams settled for a 1-1 draw.
