Dutchmen Drop a Pair at Middlebury Tri-Meet

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. –
The Union College men's swimming and diving team came up short at a tri-meet at Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon, falling to the host Panthers by a 238-36 score and losing 187-89 to Clarkson University.
 
Senior Seif Refaat picked up Union's lone win on the day, finishing the 200-yard individual medley in 2:02.49 to out-touch a Clarkson swimmer by 0.31 seconds. The senior also took fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (23.09) and 100-yard freestyle (51.02) to pick up victories over Clarkson in both events.
 
Sophomore Zachary Cormier had a good showing in the 1000-yard freestyle, touching the wall third in 10:33.63 behind two Middlebury swimmers.
 
Freshman Jack Tucker took fourth in a pair of events, finishing the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.34 and the 100-yard butterfly in 55.37, while senior Owen Perks added a fourth-place result in the 100-yard backstroke by finishing in 56.68.
 
The Dutchmen will return home for a pair of meets at Alumni Gym Pool next week, beginning on Wednesday with a dual meet against Hamilton College starting at 6 p.m.
