Union Honors Former Dutchman Ken D'Orazio '85

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, many former Union College men's basketball players returned to campus as part of Alumni Day to honor former Dutchman Ken D'Orazio '85, who passed away in November.
 
With many of Ken's former teammates and friends in attendance, his college roommate and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Robert Bertagna '85 gave a brief remembrance of Ken's life at halftime of Union's victory over Vassar College. Following that, former Union teammate Brian Laux '85 presented Ken's mother, Patricia, and brother, Bernie, with a framed jersey of Ken's number 33 jersey.
 
D'Orazio was a key part of Union's 1982-83 team that went 21-5 and made the first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, and was later inducted into the Union Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017. Ken averaged 14.0 points per game, grabbed a team-leading 9.3 rebounds per game, an shot 56.1 percent from the field during that year and eventually finished his career with 1,252 points, currently ranking 13th in school history.
 
Born in New York City on April 15, 1963, D'Orazio passed away on November 3, 2019.
