Men's Swim Falls to Hamilton at Home

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. —
The Union College men's swimming team battled hard against Hamilton College, but the meet ended in Hamilton's favor, as the Dutchmen fell by a 142-52 score on Wednesday night at Alumni Gym Pool.

Sophomore Brendan Egan came away with one of the big wins of the day, touching the board first in the 1000-yard freestyle event. In the competitive field, Egan swam with a time of 11:02.89 to grab first in the event.

Senior Seif Refaat, the reigning Liberty League Swimmer of the Week, came away with a win of his own in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.54. Refaat also grabbed second place in the 200-yard freestyle event with a 1:50.62.

Union's third victory on the day came courtesy of sophomore Zachary Cormier. Cormier gave the Dutchmen nine points by claiming the victory in the 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 50.58.

The Dutchmen return to the pool for senior day on Saturday, January 25, where they take on Vassar College at Alumni Gym Pool. The meet has a scheduled 1 p.m. start time.
