SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Union College women's swimming and diving team gave several outstanding performances at home, but the effort fell short at Alumni Gym Pool, as the Dutchwomen fell to Vassar College, 161-128 on Saturday afternoon.
The close margin on senior day came with plenty of results from swimmers celebrating their last meet at home. Senior Kerry Kelly came away from the meet with three wins to her name, grabbing the titles in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:10.34), 200-yard butterfly (2:10.74), and the 400-yard individual medley (4:42.03). Her classmate, Emily Quinn, also came out with a win on senior day, and got the fastest time in the field for the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.05), while also taking second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.56).
The Dutchwomen's excellent performance continued on the boards, with junior Amanda Lopez sweeping the diving events. Lopez grabbed a critical 18 points for Union on the 1-meter (236.33) and 3-meter (216.67) diving events. Junior diver Annie O'Donnell grabbed second behind Lopez in both events.
The foursome of Quinn, Kelly, sophomore Elise Leibow, and classmate Jess Frigon grabbed second place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:58.65.
