Help Kozi's Kids fundraise for local children

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Men's hockey senior captain Josh Kosack has announced a holiday campaign to help raise money to purchase Christmas gifts for local Schenectady children.

Kosack started Kozi's Kids last season, which helped give unused Union hockey tickets to children from COCOA House (Children of Our Community Open to Achievement). This season, Kozi's Kids is running a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to purchase Christmas presents for the children at COCOA House.

To make a donation, visit the GoFundMe campaign here, or click the link at the top of the story.

COCOA House was established in 1996 by Union College student Rachel Graham. Graham, who grew up in Schenectady, understood the challenges many local children faced, and she sought to create a program that would promote academic success and expanded opportunities for at-risk youth. The program started out small, operating out of the basement of a local church. Over the years COCOA House has evolved into a full-fledged after-school tutoring and enrichment program, operating out of its own facility in the Hamilton Hills section of Schenectady.

Today, members of Union's student body and members of the Schenectady community work together to run the COCOA House program, with more than 80 Union students trained as COCOA House volunteers.
