HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The Union College men's hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to Colgate at Class of 1965 Arena on Saturday night. With the loss the Dutchmen drop to 7-20-3 (5-12-1 ECAC Hockey) on the season while the Raiders improve to 10-14-6 (8-7-3 ECACH).
Despite putting together a strong third period, out-shooting the Radiers, 13-5, in the final frame, the Dutchmen were unable to find the back of the net.
Colgate scored during four-on-four play to open the scoring midway through the first period. The Raiders then added to their lead at the 9:53 mark of the second period to make it 2-0.
In the third period, Union opted for an empty net with 10 minutes left to try to generate some offense. Unfortunately, Colgate scored on the open net to make it 3-0 with 9:49 left in the period. The Raiders then added a fourth and final goal of the game just two minutes later.
Summary
- Despite being outshot, 9-5 and 9-11, through the first two periods, Union ended up out-shooting the Raiders 27-25 by the end of the game.
- Junior Darion Hanson made a total of 20 saves in the contest, while first-year Josh Graziano finished the remaining 8:17 of the contest, needing to make just one save without conceding any goals.
- Neither team scored on the man advantage. Union was 0-for-3 on the power play, while Colgate was scoreless on six opportunities.

Union returns to Messa Rink for its final home games of the season next weekend, Feb. 21-22, hosting Princeton and Quinnipiac. Both games will start at 7 p.m. (ET) and Saturday's game against the Bobcats will also serve as Union's Senior Night.
