SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -The Union College men's soccer team hosted the Hobart College Statesmen on Saturday afternoon at College Park Field. Junior
Evan Farr tried to help lead a comeback with two goals, but the Statesmen prevailed with a final score of 4-3 in Liberty League play.
In the first half, Hobart took the action right to Union. Hobart scored in the 7th
 minute to open the scoring. The Statesmen would then go on to score two more times in the first frame to lead 3-0 at the half with goals coming in the 32nd minute and the 37th minute. Hobart out shot Union 7-0 in the first half.
In the second half things got much more interesting. Farr got Union on the board off a corner kick in the second half, with junior
Craig Miller and sophomore
Sebastian Santelices credited with the assists. Hobart scored once again on a broken play to make it 4-1, but Union was not done though. Sophomore
Matthew Dougherty scored in the 82
nd minute on a great pass from
Connor Dolin to cut the lead in half,while Farr added to his scoring with his second strike of the afternoon from the penalty spot in the 90
th minute. Union had one last scramble in the final seconds, but its shot was blocked.
Union was out shot in the game 12-9 for the game, but Union outshot Hobart in the second half.
The Dutchmen (4-6-1, 0-5-0) will host Ithaca on Saturday, October 16
th at 2 p.m. on College Park Field when they celebrate the Seniors on their Senior Day.
