SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – In the first meet of the season, the Union College men's swimming and diving team dominated Skidmore College, 197-96, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gym Pool.
Sophomore
Matthew Kenvin had a big day for the Dutchmen, winning three individual events and anchoring the first-place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:31.54). Kenvin won the 100-yard breaststroke over three seconds faster than the next swimmer, posting a time of 1:00.39. The sophomore added wins in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.25) and the 200-yard IM (2:03.69).
Junior
Jack Tucker also earned wins in three events. Tucker won the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.22), the 100-yard freestyle (50.71), and the 100-yard butterfly (56.43), and also earned a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Sophomore
Zack Panlilio registered a pair of first-place finishes in his collegiate debut. Panlilio won the 1000-yard freestyle by almost 13 seconds, before narrowly edging teammate
Bill Megas in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:04.36.
First-year
James Javier Jr. won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.94 and was the leadoff swimmer in the first-place 200-yard medley relay (1:43.39).
Sophomore
Bill Megas earned a victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.55 and a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.56).
First-year
Colin Farrell placed first in both the 1-meter diving and the 3-meter diving. Farrell scored a 164.85 in the 1-meter event before finishing the 3-meter event with 178.80 points.
The Dutchmen return to action next Saturday at Williams College for a 1:00 p.m. meet at the John Wesley Chandler Athletic Center.
