SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's hockey team fell to #4 Quinnipiac 4-0 Saturday night at Messa Rink.
The Dutchmen offense struggled all night, generating only 13 shots on goal, while the visiting Bobcats put 37 shots on net.
After a scoreless first period, Quinnipiac broke through with a goal by Desi Burgart at 12:54 of the second frame.
The Bobcats added to their lead in the third, putting the game on ice. Guus van Nes gave Quinnipiac a 2-0 lead at 8:56 of the third period before adding his second goal of the game 1:50 later. Ty Smilanic put the game out of reach with Quinnipiac's fourth and final goal at 14:50.

Joe Sharib made his collegiate debut in relief, logging 5:10 of ice time and making one save.
Union went 0-for-5 on the powerplay and held Quinnipiac 0-for-3 with the man advantage. This marks the sixth straight game the Dutchmen have not allowed a power-play goal.
The Dutchmen will make one final road trip of the calendar year next weekend to Orono, Maine for a match-up with the Maine Black Bears. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday night at Harold Alfond Sports Arena.
