ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Union College men's outdoor track & field team finished the 2021 season on a high note at Wednesday's All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Outdoor Championships, earning points in both events to sit in a tie for 16th place after day one at St. John Fisher College's Polisseni Track.
Despite participating in just two events, Union finished the first day of competition with five points to sit in a tie for 16th place among the 32 teams participating in the regional championship.
Senior
Dante Scott finished his decorated Union career on a high note, earning his first podium finish at regionals with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump. The senior recorded a top leap of 13.72 meters (45-0.25) on his fourth of six attempts to earn a spot on the podium and pick up one point for the Dutchmen.
The 4x400-meter relay also had an excellent showing for Union in its final race of the season, as the quartet of junior
Andrew Fox, sophomore
Aiden Rowley, and first-years
Ryan Hilliard and
Joey Korongy combined for a time of 3:24.68. The result, which earned four points with a fifth-place finish, is the fastest 4x400 by a Union outdoor squad since 2011.
All four members of the 4x400 relay are slated to return next season, as the Dutchmen look to continue the momentum gained this spring with a full year of indoor and outdoor competition in 2021-22.
