Two Individuals, One Relay Earn Men's Track All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Members of the Union College men's indoor track & field team earned All-Mideast Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in two individual events and one relay for the 2025-26 indoor season, the association announced on Wednesday.

To earn All-Region honors, individuals must finish in the top-eight of the region in an event and relay teams must also finish in the region's top-eight. Senior Mason Lang (shot put) and sophomore Liam Fitzgibbon (800 meters) earned the honor as individuals, while the distance medley relay quartet of Fitzgibbon, juniors Jackson Klehr and Bretton Garrick, and sophomore Michael Fitzmaurice also was recognized.

Lang earned the second All-Region honor of his career in the indoor shot put with a season-best mark of 14.34 meters (47'0.75") set back in December at the Utica Holiday Classic, joining his first honor from his sophomore year. Fitzgibbon posted his All-Region time in the 800 at the Liberty League Championships in late February, finishing in 1:55.54 to rank fifth in the conference and seventh in the region.

The DMR foursome is the first Union relay team in program history to earn All-Region recognition after crossing the line in 10:18.82 at the Liberty League Championships, finishing the year eighth in the region.

In addition to Ahern and Bois, several other Union athletes finished in the top-20 of the region as well this year. Fitzmaurice joined Fitzgibbon in the top-20 in the 800 meters, with his season-best time of 1:56.18 at the conference championships good for 11th in the Mideast Region. Junior Nate Okwaning's All-Conference honorable mention time of 7.00 seconds in the 60-meter dash ranked 14th in the region and senior Jason Bois placed 19th regionally with a time of 8.72 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic. In addition, the 4x400 relay finished 14th in the region after Fitzgibbon, Klehr, senior Aidan Savitt and sophomore Aidan Bradley clocked in at 3:29.12 at Liberty Leagues.
