AMHERST, MASS. – The Union College women's swimming & diving team opened 2022 with a 145-102 loss to #23 Amherst College Saturday afternoon at Pratt Pool.

Senior Elise Liebow continued to be a steady presence for the Dutchwomen with a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:04.43). Liebow made her collegiate debut in the 200 fly (2:39.26).

First-year Kristina Valenti earned a third-place finish in the 50 free (26.65) and earned a point in the 100 free (59.59).

Junior Melanie Baker swam to a third-place finish in the 200 back with a personal best time of 2:22.73. Baker also added a season-best in the 50 back with a time of 29.81.

The Dutchwomen host Hartwick College and Springfield College in a home tri-meet on Saturday, January 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Gym Pool.
