SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming and diving team opened the home slate of the 2022 calendar year with a loss to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 211-67, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gym Pool.

Senior Emma Donlan placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.04) narrowly edging out classmate Elise Liebow, who finished third (1:06.11). Donlan also secured a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:22.52. Liebow logged a third-place finish for the Dutchwomen in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:58.31.

Fellow senior Jess Frigon earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (26.29) and the 100-yard freestyle (58.56).

First-year Kristina Valenti recorded a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.54 and classmate Allison Gowern placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:41.64.

Union is scheduled to travel to Hamilton College on Wednesday, January 19 for a meet with the Continentals. The first event is slated for 6:00 p.m. at Alumni Gym Pool.
