SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's swimming and diving team closed out the 2022 calendar year on Saturday afternoon against Amherst College, falling to the Mammoths by a score of 160-98 in the team's home opener at Alumni Gym Pool.

Going up against a very strong Amherst team, Union put together several season-best performances in its first competitive event in nearly a month.

First-year
Drew Hill finished the calendar year with a pair of season-best times, clocking in at 22.56 to take third in the 50 freestyle and placing fourth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.24. In the 200 freestyle, senior
Jack Tucker posted his best time of the season by nearly two seconds, touching the wall in 1:50.49 to place fourth overall as well.

Zack Panlilio shaved nearly a second off his season-best time in the 1000 freestyle, taking fifth place with a time of 10:21.17, while first-year
Josh Hiller (59.79) and junior
Jonathan Osma (1:01.11) both posted season-best times in the 100 backstroke for the home team.

Sophomore
Colin Farrell earned a pair of first-place finishes for Union on the boards, taking the one-meter dive with a score of 201.37 and the three-meter dive with a score of 234.75.

Union will ring in the New Year next Saturday with a tri-meet against Springfield College and Hartwick College beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Oneonta.
