VERONA, N.Y. – The Union College women's golf team shot a team round of 356 to sit in a tie for third place out of six full teams at the midway point of the 2022 Liberty League Championships, held at Turning Stone Resort's Kaluhyat Golf Course.
 
The Dutchmen are tied with Ithaca College at 356 after day one of the two-day event. #12 New York University shot a team round of 305 to take a 25-stroke lead over #31 Wellesley College into Sunday's second and final day.
 
Individually, first-year Elizabeth Bentsianov sits in a tie for ninth place after day one with a round of 86. After carding a nine-over 45 on the front nine, she settled down on the back nine to card four pars and five bogies to come in with a 41. The first-year was Union's best player on the par-threes and the par-fours on day one, shooting two-over on the course's four shortest holes and finishing the par-fours at eight-over-par.
 
Junior Colleen Buckley finished Saturday in a tie for 13th place following her round of 88, with senior Ashley Harding ending the day one shot back with an 89 that tied her for 15th place. Buckley was one-over on the course's four longest holes on day one, while Harding had Union's lone birdie of the day with a two on the par-three 8th hole, one of only two birdies on the hole all day.
 
Senior Kiara Beckham shot a 93 on Saturday to place 20th after day one, while first-year Elle Lagor rounded out the Union quintet with a 101 to sit in 24th place.
 
Union will return to the course tomorrow for the second and final day of the conference championship beginning at noon.
