DELMAR, N.Y. – The Union College women's golf team finished off its fall season with a rain-soaked second day of competition at the UAlbany Great Dane Invitational, held on Monday at Normanside Country Club.
Playing as the only Division III school in the field, Union shot a 374 on Monday's second day to finish the weekend at 737, placing 14th overall.
Sophomore
Iyene Essien finished better than 52 Division I golfers with a two-day score of 156, following up yesterday's 73 with an 83 in Monday's tough conditions. She started her round with seven straight bogies during the hardest rain of the day, and closed with five pars and a birdie on the par-four 11th over the final 11 holes.
Classmate
Carinna Anastasio battled the elements to take six shots off of yesterday's score with a 90 on day two, finishing the weekend at 186. First-year
Claire Giletta followed a 96 yesterday with a 97 today to end the event at 193. Classmate
Emma Doherty ended the two days at 203 and sophomore
Ella Golas finished at 210.
The event finishes off Union's fall season, which saw the Garnet Chargers averaged under 347 strokes per round over nine rounds. Union will take time off for the winter before returning to the course on Spring Break in March.
