SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming and diving team fell to rival Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 197-71, Sunday afternoon at Alumni Gym Pool.
Sophomore
Kristina Valenti continued her strong weekend with a win in the 200-yard freestyle, edging out the second-place finisher at the wall with a time of 2:05.53. Valenti finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a personal best time of 1:10.45.
Junior
Emily Langlois won the 400-yard IM with a season-best time of 5:06.86 and sophomore
Molly Miller set a new personal best in the event with a time of 5:14.94.
The 200-yard medley relay team of senior
Melanie Baker, Miller, Langlois, and Valenti raced to a second-place finish with a time of 1:58.11. Baker also recorded a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:03.54.
In the 50-yard freestyle, first-year
Sasha Malik finished in third with a time of 27.20 and sophomore Megan Seidberg raced to a season-best time of 28.08.
Senior
Grace Athanas placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 1:02.27.
Sophomore
Maya Gerber finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 1:08.97.
Union is back in action on Saturday against Ithaca College for senior day. The first event is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Alumni Gym Pool.
