SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming and diving team celebrated its seniors and closed out the 2022-23 regular season on Saturday afternoon against Ithaca College. Union fell to the Bombers by the score of 238-52 at Alumni Gym Pool.

In the pool, the highlight of the day for Union was sophomore
Kristina Valenti, who took first place in the 100 backstroke by touching the wall in 1:03.22 in her first time swimming the event this season.

Meghan Seidberg also had a good swim in the 100 breaststroke, taking second place in 1:13.07 and taking more than two seconds off her season-best time.

Sophomore
Molly Miller took more than 4.5 seconds off her best 200 breaststroke time of the season, placing fourth in 2:38.88 behind teammate
Ally Gowern, who finished in 2:37.40 to place third. Sophomore
Gabi Acosta also posted a season-best time in the event, placing sixth in 2:41.48.

Gowern added another third-place finish in the 200 individual medley, finishing in 2:21.66.

Among the seniors, Lisi earned four points for Union with season-best swims in the 50 freestyle (27.78) and the 100 freestyle (1:00.97), placing fifth and fourth, respectively. Baker added a season-best time in the 200 backstroke (2:22.78), while Athanas was almost four full seconds better than her previous season best in the 200 individual medley.

Union will spend the next two weeks preparing for the upcoming Liberty League Championships, which will take place at Ithaca on February 15-18.
