UTICA, N.Y. – Sophomore Cat Dacey won the women's 800m dash as the Union College women's track and field team finished in 8th place out of 22 teams at the Utica Blue and Orange Invitational. The Dutchwomen totaled 41 points against teams across all three divisions Saturday afternoon.

Dacey beat out 41 other runners in the 800m dash to grab a win with a time of 2:26.39. This is Dacey's fastest time of the season so far and it qualifies her for the Liberty League Championships in the 800m.

Sophomore Marley Froe had a busy afternoon, racing in both the 60m dash and the 200m dash. Froe raced to a third-place finish in the 60, clocking an 8.22, which is her fastest time this season. Froe followed with a time of 27.13 in the 200m, which was good for fourth place.

Senior Leila Warde had an excellent day in the pentathlon. Warde competed in the 800m, 60m hurdles, high jump, long jump, and shot put. She earned 2259 points in those events against athletes from division one and three. the 2259 points is a new best Warde as well. 

Senior Denesha Lafontant finished the afternoon with a pair of fifth-place finishes in field events. She jumped 10.51m in the triple jump for a new season best, surpassing her mark last weekend. She earned her second fifth place finish in the long jump with a distance of 4.94m, which is a new personal best and also earned her a spot at Liberty Leagues. Lafontant's previous best was 4.87m back in 2020.

Union will head back to Utica next week, February 4, as they compete at the Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational. Meet kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
