CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – After a four-point game where first-year
Stephanie Bourque of the Union College women's hockey team scored one goal and three assist all on the power-play, Bourque was named ECAC Rookie of the Week, the league announced Thursday morning. Bourque factored in on all four Dutchwomen power-play goals as they earned their 10th win of the season.
Bourque's first point of the contest came just over mid-way through the first period. Bourque fired a shot from the point and the shot the hit the post, when first-year
Amanda Quan buried the rebound into the net on the power-play.
Bourque added her second assist on the power-play, when she swung a point pass to the other side to junior
Celeste Beaudoin, who's pass found sophomore
Maddie Suitor. Suitor beat the goalie on the power-play.
In the second period, as the third power-play was about to expire, Bourque fired a shot from the point through a screen. Her shot had eyes and snuck through the goalie and into the back of the net for her first-collegiate goal.
Bourque's third assist of the afternoon came on the team's fourth power-play. Bourque fired a shot from the point and hit the crossbar this time. Her rebound fell into the paint, and first-year
Riley Walsh knocked in the loose puck as Union extended their lead to 5-1.
This award is Bourque's second award of the season, as she was named ECAC Defense Player of the Week back on October 4, when she registered three assists in a weekend against Holy Cross.
Union will get back into ECAC play this weekend as they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to take on #10 Cornell on Friday, January, 6, at 6 p.m. from Lynah Rink.
