SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's hockey team fell, 2-1, in a tightly contested game with Colgate University Saturday evening at Messa Rink.
In the loss, Union falls to 8-12-1 on the season and 3-7-0 in ECAC Hockey play. The Raiders move to 10-10-2 overall and 7-3-0 in conference.

Colgate jumped out to a 1-0 lead with 5:10 left to play in the first period. After a back-and-forth battle on both ends of the ice, Matt Verboon stuffed home a rebound off of Alex DiPaolo's shot.
The visitors struck again early in the second frame when Alex Young sent a wrister past senior
Connor Murphy's glove for the eventual game-winning goal. Hanley scored exactly three minutes later to cut the lead to one. Kelly cut across the middle of the ice and found Hanley wide open, who fired home a wrister to make it 2-1.
Both teams generated chances in the third period, including five shots by the Dutchmen on a five-minute powerplay early in the frame. Union pulled Murphy with 2:31 remaining, but could not score the equalizer.
Union won 33-of-59 draws in the circle with junior
Liam Robertson winning 12 of his 18 draws.
Murphy made 31 saves in the loss, marking the eighth time this season he has made 30 or more saves. Colgate netminder Carter Gylander made 25 stops in the win.
Union heads to Providence, R.I. for a matchup with Brown University on Friday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Meehan Auditorium.
