ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming and diving team earned a split in a tri-meet with Hartwick College and Springfield College on Saturday afternoon, defeating Hartwick 149-100, and falling to Springfield 221-59.
The win marks the first for head coach
Molly Chamberlain and the first for the program since Nov. 13, 2021, when the team defeated Skidmore College.
"The win against Hartwick was exciting," said Chamberlain. "The best part about the day was the energy and the excitement on the deck. This team is showing up for each other again and again. Proud to be at Union today!"

Melanie Baker, sophomore
Molly Miller, sophomore
Ally Gowern, and sophomore
Kristina Valenti placed third with a time of 1:58.76.
Gowern decisively won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:21.35. She also added a season-best time in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:07.29.
Valenti picked up key points in the 50-yard freestyle (26.00) and the 100-yard freestyle (57.60), finishing in second, and third, respectively.
Baker and first-year
Sasha Malik came in second in third, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:04.86 and 1:05.22. Baker also set a new season-best time in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.42) while Malik picked up a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:23.04.
Sophomore
Meghan Seidberg came in third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 2:40.76. Classmate
Gabi Acosta also set a new season-best in the event with a time of 2:44.72.
Junior
Emily Langlois turned in season bests in all three individual events this afternoon: 200-yard freestyle (2:09.91), 500-yard freestyle (5:52.46), and in the 200 IM (2:31.72).
The 100-yard breaststroke, saw Miller (1:13.84), senior
Grace Athanas (1:17.37), and junior
Morgan Malinow (1:22.92) all set a new season best in the event. Athanas also set a new season-best in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.48.
The team will be off until Saturday, Jan. 21, when they travel to Poughkeepsie for a meet against Vassar College. The first event is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Kresge Pool.
