SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming and diving team moved to 4-0 in head-to-head competition with a 144-82 win over SUNY New Paltz Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gym Pool.
The 4-0 start marks the best start since the 2006-07 season, where the team won four-straight before falling to Middlebury in January. The only other teams in the 40-year history of the program that won four or more meets to start the season are the 1989-90 team and the 1987-88 team. Those teams went 9-0 and 8-1, respectively.

Alison Silver started the afternoon off with first-place finish with a time of 4:20.09.

Jessica Konsky claimed the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.68 in a race that saw Union sweep the top three spots, with first-year
Grace Furtado coming in second with a time of 2:07.97 and Malik placed third with a season-best time of 2:10.80. Konsky went on to win the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.09. Silver claimed third with a season-best time of 1:00.78 and Ramirez set a new personal best with a time of 1;04.58.
Matthews and Silver raced to first and second, respectively in the 50-yard freestyle. Matthews set a new season-best with a time of 26.32 and Silver recorded a new personal best with a time of 26.94. First-year
Sarah Ramirez also raced for Union and set a new personal best with a time of 29.09 to close out the Union scoring in that event.
The 200-yard IM saw the top three finishers in the event, all Union, set new season best times. Valenti came in first with a time of 2:21.36, junior
Ally Gowern finished in second with a time of 2:25.37, and senior
Emily Langlois earned third with a time of 2:26.34. Gowern went on to win the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 1:07.01 and classmate
Maya Gerber also set a season-best with a third-place finish with a time of 1:09.26.
Malik won the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:04.40. First-year
Amelia Dino raced to a second-place finish in 1:08.96.
Senior
Morgan Malinow nabbed a second-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 12:18.15. The senior also added a season-best time in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:12.45.
The Garnet Chargers placed four in a row in the 500-yard freestyle. Furtado came in second with a time of 5:44.21 after narrowly getting edged out at the wall. Junior
Meghan Seidberg earned a third-place finish with a time of 5:57.68 and first-year
Samantha Picciotti set a personal best in the event with a time of 6:05.06.

Molly Miller earned a season-best time in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.87.
On the boards, Union went 1-2 in both events. Junior
Aurelie Truquet scored 185.55 in the 1-meter diving and 183.83 in the 3-meter. First-year
Matia Malish scored 153.67 points in the 1-meter event and 136.65 on the 3-meter board.
Union is off next weekend before making the trip up to Skidmore College on Saturday, November 11. The first event is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Williamson Sports Center.
