SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior
Matt Kenvin and first-year
Winston Lee turned three first-place finishes between them as the Union College men's swimming and diving team competed on Saturday in a tri-meet with Springfield College and Hartwick College. Union fell to Springfield 154-133 and also lost to Hartwick 156-138.
In a continuation of his stellar senior campaign, Kenvin registered a pair of wins this afternoon. The senior won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.63 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:09.50.
Lee also turned in a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.00 and nabbed a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.43.
Union opened the meet with a tightly contested 200-yard medley relay that saw Union take second, only .18 seconds off of the first-place team. The team finished in 1:37.31 and was made up of Lee, Kenvin, sophomore
Drew Hill, and senior
Zach Matthews.
Hill registered a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.92 and claimed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.30.
Senior
Zack Panlilio placed third in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:35.12.
Senior
Bill Megas and Lee went back-to-back in the 200-yard freestyle to finish second and third, respectively. Megas finished the race in 1:47.99 and Lee completed the race in 1:48.82. Megas went on to take third in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:03.78.
Junior
James Javier Jr. finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.27 to finish second.
Senior captain
Andrew Boyd nabbed a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.04 and registered third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.37.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Kenvin, senior
Andrew Barton, Hill, and Matthews finished in second with a time of 1:28.91 to close out the meet.
Union returns home on Saturday to host Middlebury at Alumni Gym Pool. The first event is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
