SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming and diving team opened their season with a pair of wins on Friday afternoon at Alumni Gym Pool. Union defeated Westfield State University 158-70 and Roberts Wesleyan University 131-105.

Maddie Stanley opened the meet off strong with a first-place finish in 2:00.29. Union's second relay team of senior

Jess Konsky earned second with a time of 2:02.48.
Sophomore
Chloe Matthews earned the top spot in the 50 free with a time of 26.70 while classmate
Sarah Ramirez took third with a time of 28.16. Matthews went on to win the 100 fly with a time of 1:05.51.
The senior duo of Valenti and Gowern went back-to-back in the 200 IM to finish second and third, respectively, with times of 2:24.29 and 2:31.76.
Seniors Miller and
Gabi Acosta earned the top two spots in the 100 breaststroke in a race that came down to the wire. Miller finished first with a time of 1:15.72 and Acosta took second with a time of 1:15.73.
Konsky claimed the top spot in the 100 back with a time of 1:04.42. Sophomore
Amelia Dino finished third with a time of 1:08.60.
Senior
Aurelie Truquet placed second in the 3-meter diving with a score of 200.25 for six dives. In the one-meter diving, Truquet finished third with a score of 196.80.
The 200 free relay team closed out the meet with a first-place finish. Union's team of Valenti, Konsky, Ramirez, and sophomore
Grace Furtado swam a 1:47.47 to close out the meet.
Union has a short turnaround as they head to Clarkson University in the morning for a 1:00 p.m. meet in Potsdam.
