SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College Department of Athletics held its 15th Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Sunday, as seven deserving student-athletes and two teams were recognized in front of more than 300 friends and family members at College Park Hall.
Sunday's event was the most well attended in Hall of Fame history, featuring more than 70 alumni and former staff members making the trip back to Schenectady to celebrate this year's decorated induction class, which included
Abby Arceneaux '06,
John Cagianello '06,
Rick Crookes '65,
Allison Cuozzo '10,
Caitlin (Cuozzo) O'Brien '08,
Michael Humphreys '97 and
Justin Sievert '03. Sean Washington '04 was also announced as a part of this year's class but was unable to attend, and so he will have his formal induction during the next Hall of Fame cycle in 2026.
This year's induction class was arguably the most decorated in school history, combining for 33 All-America honors, numerous conference and regional Player of the Year accolades, and dozens of program records. Nine different sports (baseball, men's basketball, football, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, men's swimming & diving, men's track & field, women's track & field, and softball) and six different class years were represented among the seven individual inductees.
The seven individuals were joined by the
1988 field hockey team and the
2005 football team, who were inducted as Teams of Distinction.
"It was a special day to welcome back this year's induction class for such an incredible event," said Director of Athletics Jim McLaughlin '93. "Our newest inductees and teams were standouts in their respective sports at Union and set many of the standards that our current student-athletes look to achieve. We were so thrilled to welcome our honorees back to campus and hear how Union had a positive impact in both their time as undergraduates and their postgraduate lives. I was also so happy to see so many alumni and friends return to campus to support our inductees and celebrate their amazing achievements."
With the induction of this year's class, 94 individuals and 17 teams have been enshrined in the Union Athletics Hall of Fame, spanning 24 different sports and 49 different class years.
