SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to Dartmouth College on Friday night at Messa Rink.
The last time Union was shutout was on December 2, 2023, a 5-0 loss at home to Quinnipiac.
Union sustained early pressure on Dartmouth in the opening minute of the game. The Big Green put five shots on goal over a span of almost six minutes with junior
Kyle Chauvette stopping each one including one on the powerplay. John Fusco scored the eventual game-winning goal at 16:39 of the opening period.
Union came out strong offensively in the second period, but had three shots blocked by Dartmouth skaters. The Big Green made it 2-0 in the second period. Sophomore
DJ Hart was called for cross-checking and the Big Green capitalized with a goal from Cooper Flinton. Union had several chances on the powerplay, but could not convert.
Junior
Nick Young had a great scoring opportunity early in the third, but the shot rang off the post to keep Union off the board. Union pulled Chauvette with 3:02 to play in favor of the extra attacker. Cam MacDonald sent a shot in from the point to give Dartmouth a three-goal lead. A penalty on sophomore
Jacob Jeannette gave the Big Green a late powerplay and they cashed in 20 seconds later to ice the game.
Chauvette made 22 saves in the loss. Croteau stopped 19 shots in the shutout.
Union hosts Harvard University tomorrow afternoon to close out the weekend. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Messa Rink.
