SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming and diving team opened the 2025 slate with a 239-38 loss to #20 Amherst College on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gym Pool.
Senior
Kristina Valenti put together a very strong meet. Valenti recorded a season-best time in the 100 free to take third with a time of 56.95, only 0.36 seconds back from the second-place finisher. Valenti went on to place second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:38.08.
The 200 free relay placed third with a time of 1:47.09. Union's team was made up of sophomore
Chloe Matthews, junior
Alison Silver, first-year
Maddie Stanley, and Valenti.
Matthews placed fourth in the 200 fly with a time of 2:24.83 and first-year
Maddie Stanley also added a fourth-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 27.12.
Senior
Meghan Seidberg claimed fourth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:43.23 and senior
Gabi Acosta finished in fifth with a time of 2:45.22. Seidberg and Acosta both went on to set new season best times in the 200 IM with times of 2:33.63 and 2:35.19, respectively.
Maggie Clifford and Erin Armstrong took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the one meter diving. Clifford scored 122.10 points while Armstrong registered 95.77 points.
Union is back at home next weekend with a tri-meet with Springfield College and Hartwick College. The first event is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Gym Pool.
