DANBURY, Conn. – Senior Brandon Buhr was named the Bluebird Hotels Forward of the Week, announced Monday by ECAC Hockey, marking the second week in a row a Union College men's hockey player was recognized by the conference.

The North Vancouver, British Columbia native tallied three goals to lead the Garnet Chargers in a weekend sweep over Mercyhurst on Friday and Saturday and earned the second Forward of the Week award of his career.

After scoring his first goal of the season in a 5-2 win Friday, Buhr recorded his sixth career multi-goal game in Saturday's 5-3 victory. Trailing 3-0 early in the second, Buhr netted a power-play goal to spark Union's comeback and later added the game-tying tally. The Garnet Chargers erased a 3-0 deficit by scoring five unanswered goals to upend the Lakers. It also marked the sixth time Buhr has scored in back-to-back games throughout his career. The senior led Union in scoring last season with 19 goals.

Buhr's scoring outburst helped Union to a 2-0-1 record on the season and the team's first unbeaten start to the campaign through three games since starting 4-0-1 in 2018-19.

Buhr and the Garnet Chargers look to extend their unbeaten streak on Friday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. against Niagara.
