SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – In the last event of the afternoon at Alumni Gym Pool, the Union College men's swimming and diving team's 400 freestyle relay clinched a 143 -136 win over Roberts Wesleyan by touching the wall in 3:17.78 on Saturday.  

Sophomore Nick Megas led off the meet-winning relay, joined by senior Drew Hill, junior Gavin Baltes, and first-year Tripp Kennedy. Megas, Hill, Kennedy, and first-year Troy Luley all secured two event victories overall to lead the team. 

Megas won the 50 freestyle (21.92), Hill won the 50 butterfly (24.09), and Luley won the 100 breaststroke (59.94) and the 50 breaststroke (27.93). Luley, the Liberty League Men's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week from Oct. 6, was the high-point swimmer for the Garnet Chargers with 22 points and was tied with Roberts Wesleyan's Raphael Weber for the second-most points at the meet. 

First-year Lucas Miller won the 1,000 freestyle by 8.77 seconds with a final time of 10:47.81. The biology major from Jamaica Plain, Mass. also came in second in the 500 freestyle (5:13.87).

Miller also placed second in the 50 fly behind Hill, touching the wall in 26.57. In the 200 individual medley, Luley's second-place performance (2:04.57) and first-year Chase Reynold's third-place finish (2:12.03) help swing the meet in Union's favor, along with Miller's 50 fly time.

Sophomore Finn Weafer dove in his first meet, competing in the 1M dive. He came in second with 135.6 points.

Union will compete in its third and final home meet of the fall season on Saturday, Nov. 1 against Skidmore at 1 p.m.
