SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College women's swimming & diving team swept its tri-meet with Westfield State and Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gym Pool, defeating the Owls 179-81 and taking down the Redhawks 176-105.

First-year Ali Sweeney was the high-point performer of the meet, finishing with 22 points thanks to three event victories and a second-place finish. 

Sweeney, the Liberty League Women's Swimming & Diving Swimmer of the Week from Oct. 6, won the 50 breaststroke (33.59), the 100 breaststroke (1:13.56), and placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:25.72). Sweeney used a 40.94 fly leg and a 32.89 free leg to move up on the podium after completing the backstroke of the 200 IM leg in fourth place. She also was on Union's winning 400 medley relay along with junior Jess Konsky, first-year Julia Garber, and junior Chloe Matthews. 

In the 200 freestyle, Matthews also used a late push to move into first place with a winning time of 2:04.51. Matthews was the second-highest scoring swimmer of the meet, winning the 50 butterfly (28.04) along with her 200 free and 200 medley relay victories. 

Garber and Konsky joined Sweeney and Matthews as two of the four Garnet Chargers with three event victories on the day. Garber posted a 1:02.22 in the 100 butterfly and led off the winning 400 freestyle relay along with Konsky, junior Amelia Dino, and first-year Charlotte Auth. Konsky added a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle (57.57) to her trophy case from the day along with the two relays she won. 

Dino touched the wall first in the 500 backstroke (31.25), securing a spot as one of five Garnet Chargers to win multiple events in the tri-meet.  
 
Union will swim its third and final home meet of the fall season on Saturday, Nov. 1 against Skidmore at 1 p.m.
