Men's Swimming & Diving Splits Home Tri-Meet

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College men's swimming and diving team beat St. Lawrence 185-47 but fell to Clarkson 135-133 in a tri-meet at Alumni Gym Pool on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Drew Hill highlighted the meet with a pool record and personal best in the 100 individual medley, touching the wall in 54.34. He was the high-point swimmer with wins in the 50 fly (23.57) and 100 fly (51.89). Hill also was part of Union's winning 200 medley relay team that posted a 1:37.61, along with first-years Tripp Kennedy, Troy Luley, and sophomore Nick Megas.

Luley won two more events, finishing first in 500 freestyle (4:57.58) and 100 breast (1:00.21). Kennedy won the 200 freestyle in 1:46.20, and Megas won the 50 freestyle (22.24) and placed second in the 100 free (50.17).

First-years Chase Reynolds and Emlen Lease finished second and third in the 50 breaststroke, respectively. Reynolds touched the wall in 29.76, and Lease was right behind him with a time of 29.78. Lease also swam on the third-place 200 medley relay team along with first-year Nathan Lowney, sophomore Brayden Green, and senior Benjamin Sperling. That group completed its relay in 1:45.65.

Junior Gavin Baltes found the top of the podium twice, winning the 100 free in 49.41 and helping Megas, Sperling, and Kennedy finish first in the 200 freestyle relay.

The Garnet Chargers host another meet at Alumni Gym Pool on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. against Roberts Wesleyan.
