DANBURY, Conn. – Junior forward
Maddie Leaney of the Union College women's ice hockey team has been named ECAC Hockey Forward of the Week, presented by Bluebird Hotels, the conference announced Tuesday morning.
Leaney recorded a four-point weekend with three goals and one assist. She scored the lone goal in the Garnet Chargers' 2–1 overtime loss to Rensselaer on Friday night, then followed up with a dominant performance in Saturday's rematch, netting two goals—one as part of Union's explosive five-goal first period and another in the third—while also adding an assist in the Garnet Chargers' 7–4 victory.
With her four-point performance, Leaney now leads the team with six goals and five assists for 11 points through 14 games this season.
A native of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Leaney has appeared in 86 consecutive career games for the Garnet Chargers, tallying 27 goals and 27 assists for 54 career points.
