Meidani Earns All-Liberty League Second Team Honors

TROY, N.Y. – Junior Chara Meidani of the Union College women's tennis team earned a spot on the All-Liberty League second team, recognizing her as one of the top singles players in the conference for the 2024-25 season, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

Meidani continued her rise up the singles ladder for Union as a junior, moving into the first-singles spot and tying for third on the team with 14 singles victories. She posted an 8-6 mark at the top flight and 9-8 overall in dual matches this season, including a 3-3 mark in Liberty League play. She started the year by taking home the "A" Singles title with three wins at the Union Invitational in September, and won three first-singles matches against opponents from nationally ranked teams over the month of April, including providing the clinching point in the Liberty League Tournament first round win over #36 St. Lawrence University.

In her first three seasons at Union, Meidani is 37-33 overall on the singles court, already the fourth-most singles wins by a Union player since 2000.

Union finished the season with 13 victories, the second straight season setting a new program single-season wins mark, and also advanced to the conference semifinals in back-to-back seasons for the second time ever.
