SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Union College women's crew team had a successful morning on the water at the Liberty League Championships, held on Friday morning at Fish Creek.
The women's varsity 4+ boat had the best finish of the day for Union, finishing 4.3 seconds away from a title with a time of 9:25.32, just behind Ithaca College and over 25 seconds clear of Rochester Institute of Technology in third place. Helmed by first-year
Isabelle Canaveral, the boat was propelled by sophomore
Mariah Jackson (bow), first-year
Isabelle Dudek (2 seat), junior
Nora Hillery (3 seat) and senior
Claire Schroder (stroke).
Union also took part in the Varsity 8+ race on Friday, finishing seventh overall in 8:27.91. Led by first-year
Lizzie Vandam in the front of the boat, the Union eight consisted of sophomores
Emma Friedman (bow),
Amy Gagliardi (2 seat) and
Sarah Hannan (3 seat); senior
Lena Nowell (4 seat); sophomore
Olivia Werkema; and seniors
Julia Cole (6 seat),
Olivia Anderson (7 seat); and
Sara Beckwith (stroke).
Union will have one more race in 2024-25, competing at the Dad Vail Regatta on Friday.
