ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sophomore
Kat Doran broke the program record in the 100 meters to lead the Union College women's outdoor track & field on day one of the 2025 Liberty League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held on Saturday afternoon at the Rochester Institute of Technology Track & Field Complex.
Union sits in sixth place with one point after day one, but the squad set itself up for plenty of more points on day two after only six of the 21 events finished on the first day. The Garnet Chargers recorded eight season-bests and three career-bests to go with one regional qualifier on the first day of competition.
First-year
Lauryn Johnson earned Union's only point of the day in the javelin throw, reaching a mark of 34.20 meters on her sixth and final attempt to earn her way onto the podium in eighth place. Senior
Lauren Armstrong just missed the podium by finishing ninth with a career-best distance of 32.79 meters.
Doran earned a spot in the finals of the 100-meter dash by breaking the school record by at least one-tenth of a second, finishing in 12.63 seconds to grab the eighth and final spot in tomorrow's final. The previous fully-automatic timing standard was set by Bridget Duffy '08 in 2006, and her time also surpasses the hand-timed 12.50 seconds (after .24 seconds of conversion) of Candy Mills-Crosz '91 run in 1989.
Doran and sophomore
Madison Brandy both posted career-best times in the 200-meter dash as well, with Doran taking 14th in 26.23 seconds and Brandy crossing the line 21st in 28.35 seconds.
Sophomore
Ashley Sheldon started the day for Union in the 100-meter hurdles, earning a spot in tomorrow's final with a time of 15.54 seconds to place seventh in the 15-runner field.
