Tatum Perkins and sophomore
Sam Rose were selected to represent the Union College softball team on the 2025 Academic All-District Softball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators and announced on Tuesday.
To be nominated for College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must participate in at least 90 percent or start at least 66 percent of their team's games, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and reach sophomore athletic and academic standing at the school. All Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Rose led the team in hitting as a sophomore, batting .323 while starting 28-of-29 games at shortstop. The second-year player drove in 11 runs and scored a team-leading 17 runs while also swiping seven bases without being caught. She had seven multi-hit games on the year to rank second on the team, including a career-best 4-for-5 day against SUNY Potsdam, and end the season strong by recording a hit in each of the last six contests and reaching base in the year's final 12 games.
Perkins hit .281 for Union in her final season, recording six doubles, two triples, 12 runs batted in and 13 runs scored in 89 at-bats. She also was perfect on the basepaths, stealing a team-leading 10 bases on 10 attempts. Her best day of the year came in a doubleheader sweep of MCLA, going 5-for-7 with a double, triple, one RBI and four runs scored, and she ranked third on the team with six multi-hit outings on the season.
With the two softball honorees this year, Union student-athletes have now earned 250 Academic All-District honors since 2001.
