Ethan Benz Joins Tulsa Oilers of ECHL

TULSA, Okla. – Union College men's hockey senior Ethan Benz signed with the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL on March 23. 

Benz appeared in 22 games as a senior and played in Union's final 14 games of the season. He tallied his first point of the year against St. Lawrence, assisting on a goal from first-year Troy Pelton. Down the stretch of 2025-26, Benz had a three-game point streak, including two goals during Union's postseason run. The Shakopee, Minn. native scored his first goal of the season against Brown in the Opening Round of the ECAC Hockey Tournament.

Over his four years in Schenectady, Benz accumulated 14 points on seven goals and seven assists through 69 games. 

Benz is one of seven Garnet Chargers to sign a professional contract this season. Five of his classmates also joined ECHL squads, and Brandon Buhr is playing professionally in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization.
