Solen Bellemare and sophomore
Arhan Gupta of the Union College men's tennis team were recognized for their play on the court and success in the classroom with spots on the 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators and announced last week.
To be nominated for College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must participate in at least 75 percent of their team's dual matches, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and reach sophomore athletic and academic standing at the school. All Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Bellemare is recognized for the second straight season, while Gupta earns his first CSC Academic All-District honor.
Bellemare was named a All-Liberty League honorable mention this season after making the leap into the first-singles spot as a junior. The Chinese and physics double major came back from a fall term abroad to earn four wins as Union's top singles player this spring, including a comeback win at the top flight against #55 Ithaca. Seven of his first-singles losses came against All-Conference first-team selections, including five matches that went three sets.
Gupta ranked third on the team in singles wins this season with a 12-11 record, including a team-best four wins at both the second and third flights, while also spending all season at the first-doubles position as well. The economics major finished fourth on the team overall in total wins on the season with 19.
With the men's and women's tennis team's combined five honorees this year, Union student-athletes have now earned 308 Academic All-District honors since 2001.
