SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association honored the Union men's tennis team both as a team and individually for achievement in the classroom this year. The squad was named an ITA All-Academic Team for the eighth year in a row, while a program-record eight Union student-athletes earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
The team made it eight years in a row of great work in the classroom, posting a team GPA of 3.529 for the 2025-26 school year. The award is given to any ITA program with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher on a 4.00 scale, with all varsity letter winners contributing to the team GPA. Union is one of 147 Division III men's tennis programs to receive the honor.
Individually, Union boasted eight student-athletes named ITA Scholar-Athletes, recognizing varsity letter winners with a GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale for the current academic year, which surpassed the previous record of seven first set in 2021 and matched in 2022. The trio of junior
Solen Bellemare and sophomores
Arhan Gupta and
Riichi Nagatake were recognized for the second time in their careers, while sophomores
Vivaan Gupta and
Jesus Sosa as well as first-years
Kuba Dolaszynski,
Reilly Fowles and
Simon Philip all earned the recognition for the first time.
The Garnet Chargers also set records on the court in 2025-26, finishing its season ranked 57th in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association after winning a program-record 11 matches and earning its first conference tournament victory since 2005.
