SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – For the second straight season, seniors

Sydney Alphabet and
Skylar Semon of the Union College women's tennis team all were recognized for their play on the court and success in the classroom with spots on the 2025-26 Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators and announced last week.
To be nominated for College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must participate in at least 75 percent of their team's dual matches, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and reach sophomore athletic and academic standing at the school. All Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Alexis and Semon are both recognized for the third straight season, while Alphabet earns her second straight CSC Academic All-District honor.
Semon was named an All-Liberty League honorable mention on the singles court as a senior, moving into the first-singles spot while also holding down the second-doubles position as well. She posted a 9-17 singles record and a 10-14 doubles mark on the season, including a combined 8-8 record in conference play. The sociology major finished her career with 45 singles victories over four years, playing all over the lineup and eventually moving from the sixth flight as a rookie to the first flight as a senior, while also tying for second in school history with 44 doubles victories. Her 89 career victories overall are most among any active Union player.
Alexis spent the majority of the season at the top doubles flight for the second straight season, earning All-Liberty League honorable mention after posting a 4-3 record in Liberty League play and a 9-13 record overall on the year, including a 6-7 mark in first-doubles competition. The biochemistry major also went 6-8 in singles play as well in her final season, finishing her four-year career with 37 doubles wins and 21 singles wins to her credit.
Alphabet led Union total victories as a senior, recording a team-best 12 doubles wins while also ranking second on the team with a 14-12 singles record. On the singles court, she posted a 6-5 record at the fourth flight and a 5-3 Liberty League mark, while also winning a team-best six matches at third doubles. The psychology and political science double major finished her four years with 39 singles victories and 27 doubles wins.
With the men's and women's tennis team's combined five honorees this year, Union student-athletes have now earned 308 Academic All-District honors since 2001.
