Sutton, Buss, and Rose Named All-American Scholars

GLOUCESTER, Mass. – Three Union College men's hockey players earned postseason academic honors on Monday as junior Carter Rose and sophomores Drew Sutton and Luke Buss were named Krampade All-American Scholars by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

To qualify, student-athletes must have a 3.75 GPA in each semester and play in at least 40% of their teams' games. Union's All-American Scholars maintained at least a 3.75 GPA in all three trimesters of the 2025-26 academic year. Rose, Sutton, and Buss were three of 404 All-American Scholars recognized by the AHCA in the 10th edition of the academic award.

Rose played in all 37 games for Union after transferring in from Clarkson University. He had 10 points on two goals and eight assists. The Economics major also blocked 23 shots as a defender.

Also new to Schenectady, Buss earned his national honor while scoring two points in 15 games as an Economics major. He scored his first collegiate goal against Alaska Fairbanks on Dec. 13.

Sutton won Union's Charlie N. Morrison Award for the second year in a row, given annually to a player who participates in extracurricular activities while demonstrating academic interest and achievement. On the ice, the sophomore played in 33 games and scored three goals with seven assists for a single-season career-high 10 points. He is a member of Union's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Scholars' Program.
