POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Union College women's cross country team earned a third-place finish at Vassar College's Ron Stonitsch Invitational, held on Saturday morning at Vassar Farm.
 
The Garnet Chargers finished the morning with 93 points, behind only USTFCCCA #1 New York University (20 points), who earned five of the top-six individual finishes, and #11 Vassar (41 points) in the top-two positions.
 
Senior Annabel Dobash led Union with a time of 19:17.2 on the 5K course as one of two non-NYU or Vassar runners in the top-15, placing 11th overall out of 67 runners and cracking Union's all-time top-10 for 5K races. After a relatively slow start in 22nd place after the opening 600 meters, the senior jumped up into the top-10 at the halfway mark and remained within two spots of the top-10 the rest of the way.
 
Sophomore Eilis Mckenna earned a top-20 finish of her own with a time of 19:50.4, good for 17th place overall. First-year Lily Harrow and sophomore Kate Monaco followed in 22nd place (20:19.5) and 24th place (20:35.3), respectively, while junior Isla Langsdorf was Union's fifth and final scorer with a time of 22:10.1 that was good for 43rd place.
 
Union will take a break from competition next week before returning to the course on September 26 at the RPI Harvest Classic at Saratoga State Park.
