CANTON, N.Y. – Senior Solen Bellemare and junior Jesus Sosa earned two wins to capture the "A" Doubles title and lead the Union College men's tennis team on the second and final day of the St. Lawrence Fall Classic, held on Sunday at the Sammis Tennis Courts and Newell Field House.
 
Following up on their two close wins yesterday, Bellemare and Sosa had a relatively easy time on the way to the title on Sunday, dropping just three games in two victories. The pair cruised past Ithaca College's top-seeded pair of Ivan Kisic and Timur Gilmanov in the semifinals by an 8-1 score, and then needed only one more game to close out SLU's Charles Schepens and Bennett Stout in an 8-2 win.
 
In the "B" doubles consolation bracket, senior Daniel Saxe and sophomore Alain Uzelac picked up an 8-5 win over University of Rochester's Liam Rieger and Andrew Balsamo to reach the final before falling just short to Michael Georgelis and Tyler Snyder in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (7-5).
 
Saxe also earned one win in the "B" consolation bracket on Sunday, knocking off SLU's Rowan Bepler before coming a tiebreaker short in a semifinal matchup against Schepens, 8-7 (7-4).
 
In addition, Union earned a pair of victories in singles exhibition matches, as junior Riichi Nagatake cruised past Ithaca College's Daivat Mehta, 8-1, and senior Shreyas Kode dealt Bepler another loss by an 8-2 score.
 
Union will return home next weekend to host the annual Garnet Charger Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Union Tennis Courts.
