ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Union College men's cross country team had all five scorers finish in the top-25 as the Garnet Chargers placed third out of 12 teams at the season-opening Fred Pavlich Invitational, hosted by Bard College at Montgomery Place on Saturday morning.
 
Union finished the day with 93 points, finishing behind only USTFCCCA #9 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (23 points) and runner-up Vassar College (60 points).
 
First-year Brody Richardson had an excellent collegiate debut to lead the Garnet Chargers, finishing the 5K course in 16:22.4 to place third overall out of 130 runners. The rookie was one of only two non-RPI runners in the top-seven and was the highest-finishing first-year in the race.
 
First-year Alex Bonnette and sophomore Cole Lewek placed inside the top-30 for Union as well on the way, with Bonnette finishing his collegiate debut in 17:32.9 to place 27th and Lewek coming in right behind in 28th place with a time of 17:34.2.
 
Senior Ben Pistiner took 33rd in 17:48.0 and sophomore Will Barry's time of 17:49.7 was good for a 34th-place finish to round out Union's scoring quintet.
 
Union will be back in action next Saturday at Vassar's Ron Stonitsch Invitational.
