Box Score Schenectady, NY The Union College Dutchmen continued their hot streak after a 5-1 win over the Bentley College Falcons at the Messa Rink at Achilles Center.
In a first period that the Dutchmen dominated, Union got on the board first with a power play goal by senior Brent Booth (2) with the assist from junior Jordan Webb (3) and sophomore Jason Visser (1). The rest of the first period the Dutchmen defense played a big role as they set a school record of not allowing a shot on goal.
The Falcons tied the game up at one in the 2nd period with a goal by Paul Markarian (2). That was the closest that Bentley would get in the game as it was all Union after that goal. The Dutchmen took the lead back for good with the eventual game winning goal on Jordan Webbs second goal of the season from Joel Beal (4) and Chris Di Stefano (3).
Scrappy play highlighted the third period as three players were thrown out of the game with major and misconduct penalties. Unions Matt Volvolgyi and Bentleys Ryan Mayhew were handed five minute major penalties for fighting and a ten minute disqualification penalty. At 11:53, Falcons defenseman Brett Murphy was given a five minute hitting from behind major penalty and a ten minute disqualification penalty. Both teams combined for 69 minutes on 18 penalties.
Unions other goals scorers were Max Seel (1), Olivier Bouchard (1), and Scott Seney (7). Sophomore Dutchmen goaltender Kris Mayotte improved his record to 3-1-1 with 12 saves on 13 shots. Union is now 5-1-1 on the season.
