Schenectady , NY ( January 3, 2004 ) The Brown University Bears (8-3-3 overall / 8-2-1 ECAC)

Defeated the Union College Dutchmen 4-1 at Messa Rink this evening in ECAC action. The loss drops the Dutchmen to ( 7-9-3 / 2-5-1 ECAC) on the season. Four different players found the net for the Bears, led by freshman team leader Brian Ihnacak (Toronto, ONT) scoring his eight goal of the season on the power play early in the first period.

The Dutchmen trailed 3-0 until local talent, junior Chris Distefano ( Albany, NY) scored his second goal on the season halfway through the second period. Sophomore Colin Homan (Minneapolis, MN) picked up his first collegiate point, getting an assist. Sophomore Jonathan Poirier (Duluth, GA) picked up an assist as well, his fifth on the season.

Brown senior net minder Yann Danis (Sainte Jerome, QUE) made 30 saves in the win, his eighth on the season, as he continues to lead the nation in goals against average (1.42) and save percentage (.954)

Union sophomore goalie Kris Mayotte ( Finleyville, PA) made 16 saves in the losing effort (5-8-3), playing well for the second night in a row.

The Dutchmen get set for their home and home series, January 9 th & 10 th with their biggest rival, Rensselaer. (RPI)

Friday's game will be at the fieldhouse in Troy, NY game time is 7:00pm. The series will wrap up back at Union College on Saturday evening. Game time is 7:00pm at Messa Rink from Achilles Center.
