SCHENECTADY, N.Y.Union unleashed its sophomore attack to remain undefeated in Liberty League football play by beating St. Lawrence, 35-2, Saturday before 1,245 on Frank Bailey Field. Tailback Tom Arcidicano rushed for 121 yards and two scores, quarterback Anthony Marotti completed 16 of 29 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns and receivers Steve Angiletta and Ryan Twitchell combined for 12 catches, 174 yards and three TDs to lead the Dutchmen.
The victory improves Union's Liberty League record to 5-0 and sets up next week's 1 p.m. showdown at Hobart, which is also 5-0. The winner of the game will earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA tournament.  Â

Union, which has won its last five in a row after a 0-2 start, got on the board on its second possession when Twitchell, who finished with five catches for 68 yards, pulled in his team-high seventh TD pass of the season, a 21-yarder with 2:20, left in the first quarter. Ben Rapple connected on his first of five PAT kicks.
Angiletta, who ended the game with seven catches for 106 yards and two scores, made it 14-0 with 42 seconds left in the opening period with a 10-yard reception.
Arcidicano capped a seven-play, 58-yard drive with 10:22 left in the second quarter when he scored from 11 yards out. The touchdown, his sixth of the year, made it 21-0. Angiletta's 31-yard touchdown reception with 4:56 remaining in the half opened up a 28-0 Union advantage. Arcidicano's three-yard scoring run with 10:46 left in the game made it 35-0.
St. Lawrence, which fell to 2-3 in the league and 3-5 overall, avoided the shutout with 7:39 left in the game when junior defensive back Adam Smith caused a fumble that Union swatted out of its own end zone.
The Dutchmen finished the game with 336 yards on 72 plays (an average of 4.7) and controlled the ball for 30:59. The Saints, which had just 57 yards at the half, finished with 241 total yards on 63 plays, an average of 3.8.
While it was the sophomore class that sparked the offense, it was the members of the Class of 2005 who spearheaded the Dutchmen's defensive effort. Linebacker Ed Larkin and defensive back Mike Flanagan, who were among 16 Union seniors playing their final regular-season home game, were each in on eight tackles. Larkin had one of the Dutchmen's four quarterback sacks while senior defensive back Brian Griffin, was in on six tackles, picked off two passes. Larkin and senior noseguard Andy Manocchio each caused a fumble.
