Union made another comeback in the bottom half of the inning by scoring seven runs to hold an 11-9 edge. Flanagan doubled to drive in the first two runs and a pair of errors by Hartwick allowed Union to tack on five more.
Hatwick managed just one more run for the rest of the game when Palanza scored on a passed ball in the fourth inning. Union added six more runs in fifth to put the game away with Flanagan driving in two of those runs on his third double of the game.
Pitcher John Moore (Westport, MA) picked up the win for Union. He entered the game in the second and allowed just two hits and no earned runs while striking out four batters in 4.1 innings of work. It was Moore's second win of the season. On the other side Tyler Saladin suffered just his second loss, allowing 16 earned runs on 18 hits in four innings.
In the nightcap an error by Hartwick second baseman Brad Polcare with two outs, opened the door for a seven-run second inning to turn a tight one-run Union lead into an 8-0 cushion. The Hawks had the Dutchmen looking at a scoreless frame with two quick outs in the second. Matt Smith (Latham, NY) got on board with a bunt single to keep Union alive. Chadwick came up and hit the ball to Polcare for what seemed to be a routine out. Polcare could not come up with the ball though and Kyle Murphy (Plymouth, MA) followed up with a triple to right field on the next play to set the wheels in motion.
Union tacked on six more runs over the next three innings, including three in the fourth off of singles from Chadwick and Flanagan.
